Boston Logan Airport Noise Study
Study Phase 1 Phase 2 Discussion Forum BOS_TAC CAC

WELCOME
The Boston Logan Airport Noise Study (formerly know as the Boston Overflight Noise Study) is a two-phased effort whose goal is to study how to reduce noise impacts from aircraft flights.

Phase 1: late 2003-early 2007
Known as Boston Overflight Noise Study
The Goal: Define and, to the extent feasible, implement changes to aircraft flight tracks to minimize noise impacts from aircraft overflights which do not require detailed environmental assessment.

Phase 2: early 2007-mid 2009
Known as Boston Logan Airport Noise Study
The Goal: Address additional noise abatement alternatives that require detailed analysis to meet FAA environmental requirements.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in conjunction with the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) and the Logan Airport Community Advisory Committee (CAC) has undertaken this study. The Boston Technical Advisory Committee (BOS/TAC) was formed specifically for this study to ensure a collaborative effort of key stakeholders.

Two teams have been hired to assist:
The first team is responsible for conducting all the technical analysis for the study. This team works for the study sponsors, FAA and Massport.

The second team is responsible for peer review, working with the CAC, and acting as a technical resource. This team works independently and directly with the CAC.
